Living or Sitting

Our AppleSlice EdgeTM program is built on 4 Core Slices designed to increase awareness of usage, provide the quantitative tools to measure and ultimately reduce usage.

Awareness is being conscious about the negative consequences of too much screen time.  Our plan will help individuals and families become self-aware of their usage.

Moderation is the avoidance of excess or extreme.  The ability to self-limit when it comes to technology is often difficult without mechanisms to actively limit behavior.  Our plan uses technology to help monitor and/or moderate time spent on electronic devices as well manage content exposure.

Mindfulness is our ability to be present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing.  Our goal is to help individuals become more mindful of how they use technology and the effects their usage has on other people

Purpose is using technology to expand our knowledge, become more efficient, and enhance communication, as opposed to simply engaging in mindless entertainment.    Our goal is to encourage individuals to question their habits and to understand the difference between an opportunity and an “opportunity cost” each and every time they are in front of a screen.

The 21-Day program for all family member is made up of the following components:

1. Parent workbook/journal for each parent (7-day orientation and 21-day program)

2. Child workbook/journal for each child (21-days)

3. An in-home “router” device to manage, monitor and limit online activity

4. A separate app to monitor and limit cellular activity when not connected to a home Wi-Fi

5. A parental control app to manage family usage and set limits

6. A dashboard app for children to allow them to monitor their own usage and to make decisions on how best to spend their screen time.

We anticipate that all family members will spend less than 10 minutes per day on the plan and writing in their journals.
